PunkRocketScience
Hey all- It was mentioned at the last joint club meeting that I was thinking of heading up a new group project for TFA Resistance Pilots. Obviously this is more Rebel Legion than 501st, but I am checking to see who is interested so we can start sourcing parts in quantity. Eventually, this would probably need to be transferred over to Sunrider Base's forums. So, who's in? UPDATED OT Pilot Info: Okay... So here is what I've found so far for the classic X-pilot... Not an endorsement of any of these products, just letting you know what I'm using! But first, here is a link to the costume requirements on the RL site: http://www.rebellegion.com/x-wing-pilot-episode-iv-vi-y-wing-pilot-episode-iv/ And the pilot sub-forum: http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=632 Here is the helmet I decided on from Darth Hair: http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=52880&highlight= I'm also going with his chest box (combined shipping!): http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25275 I already had a orange flight suit from Wampa Wear: http://www.wampawear.com/x-wing-orange-flightsuit/ And one is made by Far Away Creations, but you will have to email for info: info@farawaycreations.com But if you are the sewing type and want to do your own, here is one that could be used as a base (it is the same one I used for my AT-AT driver): http://www.automotiveworkwear.com/RedKap/CT10/coveralls.html For boots, I'm going with these: http://www.imperialboots.com/?product=classic-jack Gloves: http://www.leathermystics.com/gauntlets/gauntlets.html Aluminum Greebs: http://www.elvistrooper.com/xtool.htm I'm planning on sewing the flak vest and strapping myself, with design help from Lesley. Here are a couple of tutorials: http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19556 http://www.alderaanbase.com/reference/xwingcostume/ Lesley has a source for the strapping, so we can put in a group order. Finally, if you haven't gone over to Sunrider base and signed up for an account there yet, you might want to do so: http://corellianscribe.com/board/ That's all I've got for you right at the moment... But it is quite a bit of info! I hope that it is helpful! I have a mold for the comm pads, so I can pour those for the group. I just need to know how many and then get resin. The belt buckles can be found at either Wampa Wear, or Fenix Props. We can probably save a little by doing a group order on those. http://store.fenixprops.com/content/store/view/&item=105 http://www.wampawear.com/hardwear/ These appear to be the correct tuck clasps for the vest: https://ohiotravelbag.com/products/item/ec06071f-c854-4cf9-a004-0c20a769e91b/L-2331-NP
BroadSword
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I probably shouldn't say this as I've got several irons in the fire, but I was eyeballing a Pilot set-up at one time (ESB Luke), but if there is going to be a group effort, I think I'd be interested. Impatience
I am interested. Really it comes down to cost. From what I've heard so far this is in excess of $1,000 not including the helmet, so I'll put myself as tentative depending on what it takes to throw this together! Also, if this conversation moves over to Sunrider, we'll need to make sure it is in an area that non-members can contribute to as I am not a current Rebel Legion member. PunkRocketScience
I've gotten in touch with Max Gabriel Flores to get his input and pricing for his kit. I will be getting in touch with Chris Hale too, who is starting to make the greebs and helmet. I tend to agree with Scott... If we are looking at $1000+, I'm a whole lot less interested... I'm sure I can do a OT pilot for a whole lot less than that!
BrieKalan2
I'll help where I can with sewing and whatnot, although I won't make the outfit myself. Orange is not flattering to a booty my size. Sides, I want to finish my mando kit, finish my new Jedi, then work on my emperor, the redo of my Jawa and Tusken, and then a second mando that's in the back of my brain... My costume queue is fairly full.
BOOKOF
Traitor!! But really, I'm more interested in the FO TIE pilot costume. That thing looks slick.
khazara
Echoing what Scott said - interested! But not currently a member of Rebel Legion and would prefer to keep things under $1000.
BroadSword
Any news?
PunkRocketScience
Not yet. I've got a few interested on the Mando side too. Still haven't received the pricing info from Gabe. Will nudge him again.
PunkRocketScience
Hey folks... I talked to Gabe at Wondercon this weekend, and he said that it should be nowhere near $1000 to do the costume. Here is a link to the proposed costume requirements on the RL forums: http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=71772&start=

ChiefTrag
Since I work on an air base, I might ought to do a pilot. Don't worry I'll do the TIE as well Count me in.
PunkRocketScience
Mike Kurtz is working on confirming pricing from Chris Hale for his kit. Hope to have it posted shortly.
PunkRocketScience
Well crud... Just watched the Rogue One teaser. Do we want to postpone the TFA pilot build until after doing classic pilots, which would be timely for the release in December?
BrieKalan2
Classic pilots are much easier! And I can actively help with those and the flak vests. I even have 2 helmets already started--cause I was going to do this one eventually anyway...
Eagleskull
I'm down for OT pilots. Finished my helmet for display and been thinking of doing the whole suit so a group project would motivate me.

Orange is Orange If we do classic, I'll try for Wedge!
Impatience
My preference would be the new TFA Pilot since there aren't a lot of them out there, but I agree with Jeff, Orange is Orange. So if we are going to do OT, so be it, but lets get this going!!!
Amidala
First TFA Resistance Pilot was just approved!
khazara
I'm ok with either classic or TFA. Although it's probably easier to obtain a helmet for the classic X wing pilot outfit.
PunkRocketScience
Yes. The classic has been around long enough that all of the parts are readily available. I would say that my opinion would be to do classic first, and then the TFA pilot before Ep.8. We don't have a lot of Rebels in San Diego, period... So on top of the Jedi class, this would be a good bolstering of their numbers.

I can help us get the strapping we need, and we can do group orders for nearly everything!
