  1. Alas, I'll be in Indianapolis for a medical conference.
  2. Is there a time set for the meeting? I want to try to attend that at least. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Welcome Justin! Let us know if you have some times in mind. We're expecting some premier event for The Last Jedi in December. We also have the Air Show at NAF El Centro in the Spring. Legoland weekend is yet to be determined (I think) and of course there is Comic Con in July. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I forgot to add that Andy is on his way as well.
  5. We might want to take this discussion into a private messaging with other Vaders so we don't flood the overall ISG news feed.
  6. I'm also DymnDog (pronounced Diamond Dog) on SLD. How about you?
  7. At the moment we have 5 approved Vaders (Brandon, Milton, Myself, Todd and Erik). Shane and you are closing in on submission. Brandon is the most senior, but hasn't been active for a while, but we're trying to get him back into the helmet. Milton was next approved around the time of The Force Awakens, followed in quick succession by myself, Todd, and Erik all earlier this year.
  8. I own both the ROM/FX voice changer and the Multi-stomp guitar effect pedal. I've chosen to troop with the ROM/FX for now. Th Multi-stomp is not a bad option, but there are many more connections that can come loose during a troop, and it is much more bulky. I've started a lengthy discussion on the SLD regarding the speakers that you use. I think they probably affect the sound more than the processor. I bought my body suit from FenixProps (3-piece). I'm not altogether sure that a 3-piece provides much advantage over a 2-piece...but it's more authentic. I'm still on the waiting list for KevVader's capeset, but I also commissioned Lesley to make me the capeset that I troop in currently. From what I can tell, Lesley's capeset is very similar to the quality of KeVader's. I believe strongly that part of what makes Vader...Vader, is the cape. A cheap, lightweight cape just looks wrong. That's why I would not skimp on your cape. After I get my KevVader capeset I'll decide to sell one off, or perhaps keep it as a spare.
  9. Agree that a decent Vader cannot be easily made on a budget. It's often an "ultimate" costume goal after you already have other costumes (This is how I approached it). Not only do you need to have experience to know how to troop in general, but being Vader brings added responsibility to act appropriately. I've told Erik this, and I'll say it here... having a "face character" like Vader as your only costume is not the way most people do this. We encourage you to have another costume (ie. Stormtrooper or Tusken, or just a Reserve Pilot or anything that more than one can be at a troop). This way if someone else is taking a turn to be Vader, you can still troop! Having multiple Vaders is a new issue for ISG. I hope we can all share the opportunities that come up and handle multiple interests in trooping as Vader at an event in a fair and gentlemanly fashion.
  10. Yay Adam! Adam may be the infamous Fritz but he is also the Detachment leader for the Jolly Rogers Squadron.... for all TIE Pilots and Reserve Pilots in the 501st Legion. Woot! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Good luck! I know our GML will want good photos of all individual parts and photos of like your body suit without capes. Double check the thread on submission photos found on THIS forum. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Welcome Doug! How are you doing? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Now that you are on here, you can message Dean, our GML directly. He is "Stutz" here on the forums. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    The New guy!

Hey there! What's your name? Welcome to the ISG. Congratulations on working on your TK. Have you signed into the First Imperial Stormtrooper web page too? www.whitearmor.net We are here to help! One thing new members don't always realize is that we want to help you with your build. The 501st Legion has very specific requirements for how your costume needs to look and fit. Working with the FISD and coming to our Armor Parties can help you avoid expensive mistakes. We have several members who are experts on the construction of TK's.
  15. Hey Erik, Thanks for reaching out to me on the Sith Lord detachment, and welcome to the ISG Forums. As said above, full on WIP threads are probably better on the SLD Forum. But if you have questions or want to check on something, you can post here. Dean Amstutz "Stutz" is our GML here and as I told you...his word is what determines your approvability. I have also befriended Chris Greene, who is the Sith Lord Detachment leader "Thxboy". He is a wealth of information, very friendly, and lives in the Bay Area. His insight on which vendors to use for my Vader were so valuable.
  16. Hi Jay and thanks for stopping by. We love hosting traveling troopers. We don't have any confirmed troops in September right now, but that's normal. Events don't usually confirm until we're a month or two out. We do have a tentative Armor Party on September 10th and if you are in town you and the family are more than welcome to hang with us. Keep in touch with us when you find out your dates and where you will be. Maybe we can put together a quick social event to welcome you to the Imperial Sands region.
  17. Hi Giselle, Smart move getting set up on this forum for SDCC as well as other great events that we host (such as Legoland Star wars Weekend, and the Air Show in El Centro) those events usually draw people down from Southern California Garrison, but you need to be registered on our forum to sign up. I often travel to LA for my work so maybe I'll see you up there or down here soon.
  18. Welcome Richard! Nice to see you are from Eastlake. I live here, and a few more do too. We also have a member who lives between houses in Imperial Beach and Riverside and she ( yes she ) has an incredible Kylo costume she made herself. She even wore it to the World Premier in Hollywood! Be sure to check out the Sith Lord web page if you haven't already. http://www.501stsithlords.com It sounds like you might have found the costume reference library listing for Kylo but here it is in case you haven't. http://databank.501st.com/databank/Kylo_Ren
  19. Glad you were able to fix it, Jef. I use E6000 (E6K as some call it) for almost all of my costuming needs. It's plenty strong enough for me. The extra time to set up is good because it makes me slow down and think about what I'm going to do next. I just replaced some old ill-fitting ABS snap plates on my shoulders with nylon-web snap plates and E6K last night. I also created my own design of nylon webing straps and E6K that pull my kidney plate towards my ab plate (because i have a bit of a belly and otherwise it would push out at an odd angle.
  20. I have been more than satisfied with E6000 for all of my straps and snaps. I've used the nylon strapping mesh as my snap "plates" for increased surface area for the E6000 to grab hold of. I even made a strap to pull the top of my ab plate to my kidney plate closer together (by big belly was pushing it out and it looked funny).
  21. I can't pull up some of my older e-mails but his name on Facebook is Ken Tarleton Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. I would just get them from Elvis Trooper. They are not expensive and made well. I've seen other cylinders that were cast resin. Frankly, I think the machined aluminum can't be beat. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. There are several people making them. Who did you reach out to? Did you post on the JRS?
