  1. Hey Paul. Make sure you update you member profile to remove your sold costume(s). It keeps the database current. I'll be happy to assist if you're not sure how to do it.
  2. Thanks for hosting Todd & Wendy! The weather didn't cooperate, but we still managed to get a lot done.
  3. I'll take you up on that! I'm willing to come and help, but I don't need a gaffi. Rob gets a gaffi, I get free beer. Win-win!
  4. Check out this facebook group and detachment forum for the best info on Inferno Squad parts sources: https://www.facebook.com/groups/225532947949771/ https://www.jrs501st.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=198&sid=32b0bd0016ac47b8fa7ca80d0e4213bb
  5. Lost and Found: Thanks for coming out everyone. Have a couple things we need to reunite with their owners. Lost: Looking for a set of five trooping pins that were accidentally left at the armor party. Let me know if you mistakenly picked them up so we can get them back to the owner. 3 red 1 blue and 1 white. Found: One black folding chair. Let me know if it's yours.

If you browse the Darth Maul and the Junkyard sections of the Sith Lord Detachment forum, there is plenty of information on vendors that sell accurate parts. http://www.501stsithlords.com/
  7. Welcome! Looks like you're getting some good advice over at FISD. Keep asking them questions and posting your progress. They are the real experts.
  8. I agree. There is no need at all. I was reaching for a reason. Just toss them in a drawer.
  9. No clue. There is no costume that uses them. Sandtroopers don't have external plastic shoulder straps, so they're not for a Sandie kit. Maybe they are meant to go under the ridged straps for reinforcement?
  10. Nice! I think you'll be a lot happier with this kit. And the fact that AM has switched to a two-piece helmet is great. The three-piece, even though was sturdier, just wasn't as accurate.
  11. It's a little too clean. Could use a bit of weathering. :-)
  12. The general rule of thumb is to balance out the gaps so one set of gaps is not noticeably larger than the other. It is not an approval issue, however, so if you like the look, go for it!
  13. Looks good!!! Shins are riding a bit high, especially your left one with the sniper plate. It should slide down until it "bottoms out" on the top of the boot. You also might want to lower the thighs a bit as well to balance out the gaps at your knees with the ones at your thighs.
  14. Yes, you can be a member of the Detachment with basic approval. See instructions below. To be SWAT, etc. you need to follow the Level 2/Level 3 options in the Sandtrooper CRL. I'm personally happy with basic approval, mostly because I don't like the rubber gloves. Whether it's worth it or not is 100% a personal decision. The only thing you get out of it is personal satisfaction, and occasionally some special swag through the detachment. There is plenty of "basic" swag without getting approved as L2/L3. Glad to hear you'll be able to join us more soon. Don't let lack of a backpack hold you back. Most of us regularly troop without them, and they are awkward in crowds. --------- • Visit the detachment and create an account. • Once you have an account, request 501st Access though the detachment forum. This will get you access to additional 501st-only areas of the forum, and may get you access to detachment-specific merchandise, such as coins or patches. • On your membership profile on the main 501st forum (Membership DB > Your Profile Data > Your Unit Affiliation), request membership in the detachment. Once approved this will allow you to vote on detachment leadership in the annual Legion elections (as long as you stay active on the forums). Note that your membership may only be approved just prior to election time. Check with the detachment leadership if you have any questions.
  15. Looking good! I see you bought acrylic paints and sponges, most likely for your weathering? Consider using hair spray and fullers earth/tile grout instead, That's what most of us local Sandies have used. It gives a much more realistic weathering effect, IMO. Trooperbay has a good tutorial: https://trooperbay.com/weather-sandtrooper-helmet/
  16. I would use CA glue for plastic, with 2 part epoxy a close second. And whenever possible, drill and pin the parts together, with nails, dowels, whatever.. It can keeps the parts from shearing off due to impact.
  17. For some types of glues, you can use heat, but I doubt that will work on this. Most mods I have seen online, they do not disassemble the blaster first. Pretty much everything can be done externally. Here is a good tutorial:
  18. I plan to attend... but looks like I might have a work-related thing,. Put be down as a firm maybe.
  19. Found several sources of packs for sale on MEPD in the Supply Depot section. http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?/forum/34-the-supply-depot/ Here's just one example: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ImperialTrooperPacks?ref=shop_name_search_sugg
  20. Looking good Ermer! If you want your costume approved in time for Saturday, I'll need to get your final submission photos tomorrow. Here's the submission process, as a reminder:
