  1. I don't know of a specific cobbler that I could recommend. If you don't get any other responses, I would try finding one in your area based on Yelp reviews. For the leather part of the boots, I might try hitting them with some saddle soap and lots of polish. A bit of elbow grease and a few hours in front of the TV might bring those back.
  2. Change of plans. I'm going to need to miss this one. Scott, maybe we can link up at a troop for that merch.
  3. I'll try to be there for a bit. Don't think I'll have anything to work on, but will be happy to help where I can and be there for the air show meeting.
  4. That would be awesome, Dean. I'll bring all of the parts I have. I suspect it will be easy enough for someone that is more knowledgeable about small components and electronics than I am.
  5. Should be able to attend the meeting portion. Is anyone that is attending decent with electronics? May try to get my voice system squared away and am in need of assistance with wiring transducers/exciters to a mono plug.
  6. Looks good from what I can see. Just make sure that when you submit your pics to Dean for approval that you take them outside during the day with as high of a resolution as possible. Black on black on black makes it difficult for Dean to see the required details - I know because my initial submission photos looked similar to your most recent and I had to reshoot all of them. On that note, check to see how the hosting site handles uploaded photos - the site I used compressed everything, so even my reshoots had to be sent again because the resolution was changed.
  7. For TKs, I'm aware of the RomFX Revo. The one I have that does Vader is built solidly and highly regarded. No experience with the TK version, but assuming the vendor does consistent work, you may want to check it out.
  8. I saw a couple of MR 2005s on eBay last night for 200 or less as buy it now. Also saw an auction that was at 90 with 11 hours left as of last night. The RomFX Revo is an option many use, but they are pricey. The multi-stomp can work too, but I don't have experience with it. I have a CP cape, robe and custom 2 piece body suit. The pricing you're receiving seems about right. At least one of our Vader's had a custom cape made and I think it was local (DymnDog). I am not sure what price difference you would see going that route. Vader just isn't a cheap costume, especially to make it look great.
  9. That makes for a pricey saber. You can get a 2005 MR belt hanger for much less than that if you keep an eye out on eBay.
  10. Rod, I think that's a decent list. The chest box looks like a Portumac box resold by Korbanth. I would seek clarification on whether the saber is required. My reading of the CRL suggests it would be as there are no laws here preventing you from owning it.
  11. Right on, Rod. I just checked it out. I'm not personally familiar with the Korbanth chest box, but nobody else flagged it on SLD, so it might be good. I found SLD to be a wealth of info. The biggest issue I ran in to with approval was picture quality with my initial submission pics. I would definitely keep Stutz (our GML) in the loop here on ISG as you progress. SLD has the knowledge, but Stutz is who will approve you. I'm happy to help you however I can as you start to put things together and answer any questions you might have along the way.
  12. Welcome, Rod. My Vader was approved right around the same time as Todd's. What is your username on SLD? I'd like to check out your WIP.
  13. Thanks for the links, gentlemen! You have given me a few options to ponder.
  14. I'm looking in to a TIE Reserve pilot costume for Future Wife. Over on the JRS detachment, it looks like a few of the folks are going with these: https://www.wampawear.com/product/officer-belt-buckle-with-disc/ It looks okay to me compared to the CRL, but would love some feedback from the knowledgeable folks here if you're willing to lend your .02. Thanks in advance!
  15. Semper Fi, David! Personally, I just had my Vader costume approved and just joined the garrison, but I do know that for getting a start on your costumes, you should have a look at the Detachment forums. For Palpatine, that's the Sith Lord Detachment here: http://www.501stsithlords.com No doubt those that have more experience than me will be able to offer further guidance.
  16. Thanks on both counts, Lesley! Now time to go familiarize myself with all the new stuff I can see.
  17. Good morning, all. I just received my TKID and would like to request membership access to the forums. Is this the right place to do that? Looking forward to trooping with you soon!
  18. Okay, submitted photos this weekend! Now for the suspenseful wait... The irony of the patience needed to build a Vader costume and now for word back on the approval has never been lost on me given the general lack of patience exhibited by most Siths.
  19. Good evening, all. Not my official submission pics, but for anyone interested, here's a quick preview of things now that I have everything together. I know there are some alignment and lighting issues which I will address for the actual submission. I expect to get the pics taken tomorrow so we have decent lighting and hopefully sent in before the end of the weekend provided the good folks over on the SLD or you here don't find anything glaring.
  20. I'm in for 6 yards then (just to have some extra). Thanks, Todd!
  21. Thanks to you both. The only question I have at the moment is a clarification on the email address. Lesley provided one that is different than the one in the thread Dean provided. Do I send the pictures to both?
  22. Todd, I have been thinking of doing a Jawa for my fiancee's daughter, but haven't done any research yet. Any idea how much fabric I might need for a girl that is about five feet tall?
