  2. Brian, congratulations! What is your regular account name? Guest accounts aren't normally upgraded.
  3. Hi Rob! Its good to meet you! What section of San Diego do you live in? We have a sponsorship program here in ISG where we try to hook you up with a member that lives close to you to help you through the process. If you're interested in that, contact Paul Farquhar at darthpaul73@gmail.com We also have 2 armor parties scheduled in March and May--where you can come meet people in person and get help on your kit! The March one is in Oceanside.
  4. Membership@imperialsandsgarrison.com is our GML group email! I'm glad to hear that you've been active at SLD !
  5. Thats GREAT news! Have you talked to our GML yet on submission?
  6. This is a post I wrote for the Ladies of the Legion group this morning, but it applies to us just as much as it does other groups. So, some helpful tips for when you're shopping for that dream costume: Feel free to add info! Tips n Tricks for buying armor and costume parts—Buyer Beware! FIRST: We’ve all had bad experiences—this post is about how to prevent it, not bash on the people who caused the problems. So you want to make a costume, and need parts that you can’t make yourself? Common problem—we all have that. Not everyone can sew, sculpt, cast, etc. You’ve found a seller who makes exactly what you need…now what? Here’s a quick guide. 1) Check with your fellow ladies, or club members. See if anyone knows the seller and his/her work, and responsiveness. Look for quality, fit, timeliness, how fast they respond to email, and overall customer service. 2) Check within your respective costume clubs membership officers/groups as well, they may have heard of the seller and or vendor and can provide feedback. 3) Compare prices/quality with other vendors. Not always easy for one of a kind parts, but at least try to research before you buy! 4) USE PAYPAL! Paypal protects the buyer more than your average credit card company. Be SURE to pay with “Goods and Services” –since this gives you the option to file a dispute if you haven’t received the the item in less than 180 days. DO NOT PAY FRIENDS AND FAMILY—this removes your dispute option. 5) Require a tracking number at shipment-and if it costs more to get tracking, do it. 6) Make sure the package has insurance—and pay for it if you have to! 7) Try to buy from runs that are small and have firm deadlines. Large open runs with waiting lists can run YEARS and these are where you lose money. 8) For INTERNATIONAL transactions—some extra items to think of—get your shipping quotes UP FRONT, international shipping is extremely expensive, and the potential for extra cost is high. Be aware there are always customs and duties taxes/fees which are also very large, AND outside of the sellers control. Some shipping companies charge more for customs fees than others and will be on top of what you pay for shipping! Over all—buyer beware! Keep good notes, keep all receipts and emails, and watch your timelines!
  7. HAHA, Hey Scott! You need to register with a regular account and then I can set your forum access!
  8. Mara Jade is FUN! We have one person who has it here in the garrison --Jessica Woods. The best place for Carla to start is actually over on Flagship Eclipse!
  9. Hey Brian! Have you registered for a forum account here yet? You'll need that to get access and see everything. Generally, you need to transfer to the garrison that you live in--for ease of trooping and census/501st access etc. Of course that doesn't mean you have to cut your ties with DRG at all, it just means primary affiliation changes. In the end, we're all the same legion
  10. Hiya Frankie! You're very welcome here. We have monthly armor parties so we can get together and help people build armor! Our next one is October 22. Also, if you're availble this weekend, the garrison will be at Maker Faire in Balboa park--in the Japanese friendship garden section. Come by and meet us there!
  11. Hi there Kate! For help with a forum account, email our webmaster directly webmaster@imperialsandsgarrison.com We're glad to have you with us! Visas is a FUN costume, one I've long wanted to do myself.
  12. Hi Brian! You're definitely welcome to join us. To get your Garrison transfer going, we need to start with the DRG CO and GML. My email is briekalan@gmail.com

Welcome Josh! Don't worry about size, I'm a BIG girl myself, and that doesn't stop me from having several 501st costumes! Royal Guard, Shadow Scout, Jawa and Tusken. Plus I've got a mando in progress and also several Rebel Legion costumes. Just have fun with it! Our sponsor coordinator would love to hear from you!
  14. WELCOME BRENT! Congrats on your approval!
  15. For a test fit, that's looking pretty good! While Dean is our expert onTK's as GML--looks like you're going to have a problem with your knees/shins being too close together. Shins are riding pretty high on your boots. Can they be dropped down a little?
  16. This fabric is only 36" wide, and she will also need enough for a hood and sleeves. And this material shrinks like crazy--I would honestly recommend 6 yards for most people. 4 for the body, .5 for hood, 1.5 for sleeves.
