  1. Welcome Jonathan, you're all set.
  2. WHOO!! Ed's here. Glad to see you my friend.
  3. done! Also copied all of the links and research Todd has already found into the first post also for easier access.
  4. He does not do custom work unfortunately...back to the drawing board for me.
  5. I reached out to Wampa wear to see if he does custom work...probably not, but looking anyway I talked to Gabe Flores, his was made by CosplaySky...when I looked on their site today, orange jumpsuits weren't there. We may have problems finding suppliers as many are probably out due to TFA/Rogue One.
  6. Yes, strapping, buckles, for sure. Would have to check on other items. But we do need to hold each other accountable on getting this project done on time! As always, the casa will be open for sewing workshops and general help when we start getting supplies in and start working!
  7. For those who are a little price strapped, you can make the leg flares and belt flares from wood dowels, kilz, silver metallic paint, clear coat, polish and patience! I can indeed get all the grey strapping and oD green strapping needed for this through strapworks--and we get a wholesale discount because we're also a retailer. We also need to look for buckles and stuff for the strapping--I have to go look for the source. And don't forget we all need Compads!
  8. Greetings David! yes, San Marcos does fall under Imperial Sands Garrison--we go north to the Orange County and Riverside county lines, and east to the AZ border, south to the Mexican border! We're a small garrison in terms of territory, but large in number--very close to 80 members and within striking distance of 100! You're very welcome to join us! You've posted under a guest account, have you registered under a regular forum account yet?
  9. right on! I'm down to classic pilot. I can help us get the strapping we need, and we can do group orders for nearly everything!
  10. Classic pilots are much easier! And I can actively help with those and the flak vests. I even have 2 helmets already started--cause I was going to do this one eventually anyway...
  11. Gotcha all set under your new registered ID marshall. Welcome back!

    Armor Party

Dave, there sure is. Its at Mission Bay High School, at 10 am until 4 pm. All you need to do is show up! The map below shows everything. The yellow area is the parking, the red is where the AP is actually being held on the school grounds MBHS Map by Lesley Farquhar, on Flickr
  13. Definitely here. Planning on several Jawa robes and tusken sets for my family.
  14. I'll help where I can with sewing and whatnot, although I won't make the outfit myself. Orange is not flattering to a booty my size. Sides, I want to finish my mando kit, finish my new Jedi, then work on my emperor, the redo of my Jawa and Tusken, and then a second mando that's in the back of my brain... My costume queue is fairly full.

    Advice

No worries Shane, we're looking forward to meeting you and having you troop with us!
  16. Todd knows how much I like a challenge, so it was fun going through all my resources to see what I could find. Finally got my dye tests done. First round with the color combo I normally use on Monks cloth. This is a mix of Chocolate Brown, Dark Brown and a tad bit of Rust Brown (All Dharma Procion dye). Natural fibers take a LOT more dye! It came out very red brown, but really deep color. IMG_3486.JPG by Lesley Farquhar, on Flickr IMG_3488.JPG by Lesley Farquhar, on Flickr Second test with another brown called "Truffle Brown" also from Dharma. Much more realistic color and will show weathering wonderfully! IMG_3504.JPG by Lesley Farquhar, on Flickr A comparison of the two swatches: IMG_3503.JPG by Lesley Farquhar, on Flickr To do a half yard piece of fabric, I used about 4 ounces of dye. Now that's probably overkill for sure--but browns do take a lot of dye, and natural fibers like this just SOAK pigment up. I'm going to stick with the Truffle brown as its likely the most realistic color! It'll probably take 1lb of dye powder per robe! We also have to buy SODA ASH (this is a lye fixative that makes sure that the color "sticks" and non-iodized salt. Generally 6-8 containers of salt per dye batch. DYE cost: 1 lb 25.15 5 lb is 23.70 per lb 25 lb is 20.17 per lb The dye is expensive, but worth it!
  17. Erik, welcome to the neighborhood! We're glad to have you with us.
  18. Kit, you should be able to log on to the boards, were you using your phone? There is a menu in the upper right corner to click on when using a phone browser that will let you use your regular sign in. Just gotta click on that menu---it looks like four flat bars.
  19. Congratulations on your approval!
