  1. Thanks Dean, the MTK sounds like an enticing deal.
  2. That seems like the direction I'm leaning in. However, I've looked in to MTK since Dean mentioned it. Being local and cheaper, that MIGHT be the way to go. But I'd still like to find out more about it before officially deciding. I've been in touch with Mark Harrison about the AP armor and he has been very kind and informative. I feel that it's important that I try to give as much business as I can to people like that, but saving a couple hundred dollars is also pretty important to me. So i guess I just have to learn more about MTK before I decide. I'm meeting with a local member of ISG tomorrow and hopefully I'll find out a bit more then.
  3. Hello, Imperial Sands Garrison! My name is Michael and I'll be joining the community of stormtroopers in a couple of weeks here. I'm currently going in to my third quarter at the University of California, San Diego studying Mechanical Engineering. Since i moved down here, I've been looking in to joining the Imperial Sands Garrison of the 501st but first I need to make my childhood dream come true: I need to get stormtrooper armor! And that's what brings me here. I've been talking to Mark Harrison about procuring a set of untrimmed armor and a pre-trimmed helmet. I've read that AP armor is best for ANH build but I'm not quite sure about that, so further info would be appreciated. Anyway, I'm about 5'10" weighing about 180-190 lbs (no scale here in the dorm and It's been a while since I weighed in), so I'm not quite sure how I'd fit in AP armor but I've read that it can be done. The lower price is also what attracts me to the AP armor, but if anyone knows of anything cheaper while still being 501st approved, I'm all ears. More long term, I want to make my armor in to a Stormtrooper version of Captian Rex. Will a project like that be able to be approved by the 501st? If not, or if I encounter any problems, I would want to make a stormtrooper commander. So in building my stormtrooper armor, I'd want to build it with that endgame in mind. But I wouldn't want to do any of this right away. I'll sit with regular white armor for now. But I digress. Being a college student, it is a miracle that I can afford some armor in the first place, but I've been saving for a while now and I'll be ready to order everything in about two weeks! So excited! But even then I'll barely have enough for the basics, let alone all the tools, experience, and the space to construct it all in a crowded college dorm. Because of this, I'm asking for help from my local garrison. I don't want to be a total mooch so I hope I'm not asking too much. I can buy most of the supplies needed but I'm not sure if I can afford everything, especially the actual tools. And of course, I'm hoping that I can make my armor so that I can officially join you guys in the 501st! Well this has gotten a bit long, so I'll wrap it up here. If you've read this far, I thank you! If you want to know anything else, I'll be glad to reply in this topic or via email/phone. Michael out!
