  1. Paid. I'll be there. I'll bring the bag o tools and knock off dremil.
  2. Picture time! Just as I promised. OK, for starters, no Aker for approval pics. Looks like some more trimming at the bottom and maybe a little on the arms as well. And get rid of the long strings. Short ones should still be fine. Then it's weathering. Any other thoughts?
  3. And here we have the wally world special! $13 at Grossmont. Fits like a glove with all that padding...for now. Next is tearing it up.
  4. I’ll be there. Weathering my Jawa and submission pics??? May even bring the cadet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Well...if you see another like it, lemme know.
  6. I've got photos of the inside (Todd has the helmet, I left it with him at the AP). I'm just not seeing one like it anywhere online for sale. Might check Wally world. It looks like something you would have had in high school or something. I like the sturdiness of it though. Maybe I'm overthinking it because I can't see the outside and the padding is removed.
  7. Getting ready to get back into this and wondering...what should I use for the helmet back? I've seen some with a hard hat, and I can get them easily enough. But the speed build from Leslie had a baseball helmet I think. There was some sort of sport helmet in there. What was it, and where can I find one? I went to a second hand sports store today and they had something crazy for $25. At that price, I might as well get new.
  8. I think I’m about done! All that’s left is weathering so it’s good Leslie just posted that because I’m clueless. I’ll take photos of what I have on Halloween at work. Then, if I could get a hand weathering at the next armor party, and Todd gives the thumbs up, I’ll submit. I have no paints for weathering but I can pick up something. I’m sure I’ve got WD-40. And shoe polish is everywhere. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Just a last minute reminder: HALP! Need nerd toys! Thanks everyone!
  10. I'll be there. Too many projects, not enough time. Reminder, if any one has a "Maker" project they want to loan out, I'll be happy to pick it up. (Sorry, no weapons.)
  11. Paul and I met briefly yesterday. We went over his kit (and Manda's). The good news is the new Anovos kits do not have the belts pre-assembled, so we can save some aggravation on the glue. I ended up pointing him towards Rob (who lives closer and his protege bailed).
  12. I'll be there. Not sure if the little biker wants to come or not.
  13. Can't remember if there is a website. I think there is, but I can't find it again. Your best bet is to find him in the Facebook Group. Victor Matts is who you're looking for.
  14. No protective layer. Each vendor has their own source for ABS. Some have different thickness, others are more flexible (for example, Walt's Trooper Factory has run over parts of his kit with a car and other than dirt, it went right back to shape) it all depends. Plus it could just be the light on my workdesk.
  15. Just like you said, keep the forum up on an open tab in your browser. We post on here when the next Build Party is so everyone can find it.
  16. Meant to get a whiskey glass from you if I could, even though I won't be able to make it for Bash. Next time...
  17. Hi Sky and welcome! If you look at the pinned post on this forum, it goes over everything you need to know about submission. In a nutshell, you’ll submit your application through the 501st website then email the GML photos of you in your costume. Also consider coming to the Armor Build Party this Sunday where we can look over your costume and if needed, point out corrections that may need to be made before you submit. That helps increase your chances of being approved on the first try. Brian Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Happy to help where I can! Look around the forums. Our next Armor Build Party is July 8. I'm planning to be there and working on my new TK as well. I've helped build an Anovos kit before. It looks more intimidating than it really is.
  19. Got a little bit of work done. Took Scott’s advise and went with they nylon snap plates. Took a little off the top return edge on the ab plate. Just too much there and it was digging in. Plus, it’ll never be seen. And shaped the cod. Then I removed the return edge from the wrist on the forearms. I’m starting by making it even at the elbow because with no return edge at the wrist and the inside being longer, I can always trim the wrist as needed. And with a quick test fit, I can’t believe the size of this thing! Flipping huge. One thing I noticed, it doesn’t have the ridge to place the cover strips so you kinda have to eyeball it and make sure your cover strips are spaced evenly to cover. Next up I’ll hopefully trim the forearms, the kidney, and butt. Maybe even do some more gluing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. If that’s the case I won’t be using them. This plastic seems even thicker than the ATA. I don’t see the need and honesty, I don’t think it’ll look right. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
