For anyone who needs anything heavy duty sewn, I have two industrial machines, one of which can sew leather.

That's great to know, but I don't have much to work on that needs that just now. I do have a need for some upholstery-strength thread for a repair project in my house. If you have any, maybe I can buy some from you? We can talk

  3. Welcome Haruka!

We're glad you found us, and especially a South Bay trooper! I'm in Bonita, and there are several of us around. Please ask questions! We want to help you with whatever costume you decide (when you decide) and avoid making expensive mistakes.

  4. Brian!

So good to see you and hear you're in the ISG territory! I can add you to a FB chat group for ISG Sith Lords to discuss and share the Vader opportunities if you'd like.

  5. Welcome!

You have made the right first step... asking for help! We encourage people to take their time to decide which costume is the right one for you. Every costume has it's pluses and minuses. The following link lists all 400+ costumes which have been researched and detailed with descriptions of each part...but more importantly, there is a Detachment link for each group. For instance, if you wanted to build a TIE Pilot, you should go to the Detachment web page https://www.jrs501st.com/  which is where everyone around the world who is trying to build a TIE Pilot should go to find all of the right pieces.

In addition, we have monthly "Armor Parties" which are a great opportunity for new or prospective members to meet the local troopers and ask them why they picked their costume.

    So ask away!

How did you learn about the 501st Legion?

I'll be there. I'm hoping to attach the top part of my mohawk to my TIE helmet, and I'd love any help I can get (btw, do any of you have a heat gun you can bring or have other tips to best attach the mohawk?).

I haven’t done that myself, but I recall seeing a number of build threads on the JRS Forum of using a bunch of clips and/or magnets. A heat gun can be risky because if you hit a spot more than another, you could see a warble.
