  1. Yes! It is highly recommended to wash it as hot as possible first to prevent shrinking after it is dyed and cut.  Just don't use fabric softener sheets or the dye won't take as well.

So wash in hot water, and regular soap. No fabric softener.

Do we throw in dryer too? Or hang dry?

  2. Fingers crossed. Let’s see how good I did at prep...I trimmed the edges of my monks cloth straight, sewed back a few rows to prevent fraying, and removed the extra strands. Now it’s in the wash.
I was looking up monks cloth on YouTube and saw something on prepping it for some Swedish neddlecraft and figured the prep couldn’t hurt.

Is it okay to just throw the whole thing into the wash first? Then dye it, finally cutting it?

  3. For those working on the Jawa initiative, make sure you sign up for this AP:
I'll be bringing my sewing machine and serger, plus paints etc for weathering.  We can crank out a BUNCH of jawas that day.
If you have a sewing machine, bring it--I'll teach anyone how to use their machines.

I won't be sewing for everyone, but I can help here and there...I have costumes to work on too!

Yes please on sewing! I just bought one. Never had one before, LOL! Time to learn a new skill set.

  6. Like he said above. I went with MTK due to wait times and sourced locally. Plus a lot of your supplies can be picked up from them too. I paid for convenience you can say. but the armor looks great and holds up well. You’ll like it! Let us know if you do go the MTK route, we can connect you to the source.

  8. The gaffi looks good!  Not required for the 501st, but is required for the Rebel Legion.  I would strongly urge you to submit to both when you feel you are ready.  Doubles your chances of getting in to a specific event if there are limited numbers...

Can you show me how? I’ve only know the dark side. Thanks
