  1. After waiting patiently, and in some cases completely forgetting dad ordered it, my kid’s Biker Scout finally got here today.

Looks like I’m just missing a buckle. Not a big deal, but I’m going to empty the packing material from the box and check again later.

Overall, everything looks straightforward. Only concerns I’ll have are on the O2 canister and the holster. Let the fun begin!

  2. More seasoned veterans please correct me on the process, but I believe a new CRL is driven by somebody, or a team of somebodies, researching the details and making a costume which is then used as the CRL model, working with the Legion membership officer. I'm guessing the Pretorian Guard costume would be in the Sovereign Protectors detachment same as the Royal Guards, so there might be some WIP / CRL development posted in those forums.

Sovereigns have this on their forum and they’re working on it. Also a Facebook group. So it’s in progress. They’re just looking for more details.

Really no need to reinvent the wheel...  The cap was originally designed to fit into 1-1/2" sch. 40 ABS pipe, approximately a 3" length.

It's not "reinventing" it's improving!  Why you gotta spoil the fun, Dad?

  4. This was the cylinder I used.

It's a three part file, but I just used the cylinder.

I got the 1/4" aluminum rod and flare nuts from Hoth Depot.

On Todd's end cap, for some reason Cura wanted to resize the heck out of it.  No idea why.  I ended up measuring the cylinder diameter and using that to resize the end cap.  Your mileage may vary.

Now on to dealing with other 3D printer issues.

  5. Finally got to take a pic of my rebreather.  Thanks to Todd for pointing me to the files.

Kind of a mix of two files I found.  The cylinder is from one user.  The end caps another that I had to resize for the cylinder.  But I like that it has the ridges on the end caps like it's from a bottle or something.

  6. The day is finally here.  Just starting my Tusken.  Well...sort of.  I already started the rebreather (I'll post those photos later).  Got the mask in the mail today.

    The obligatory LBB photo.

And the layout of the bits and pieces.

I'm in no rush to get this one done.  I think my next step is a trip to a sports resale store or goodwill for a batters helmet for the rest of the build.  Not so sure this is the weekend to do that though...  Otherwise, it's on to cleaning the resin bits.

  7. Let’s see if I can manage to get this all done through the apps.
Stephan and I met again today and here’s the progress:

After the photo was taken, we glued on the rivet covers. We’ll glue on the right outer drop box, but I’m thinking of adjusting the left. Riding a tad high. Also glued on the last forearm cover strip.

Ab plate and kidney join flush. No shimming. Lower legs cover the boots.

Belt needs to be adjusted. We’ll work on that this week. We’ve also decided to add notches in the knee areas for mobility.

Rivets will be painted this week. We’ll make sure they’re n alignment for submission photos if necessary. Question on the knee plate: is the top back too far? It’s mounted following the top of the shin plates, but the top is also butting against the thigh.
Next is to deal with the backs of the thighs, add the ab button plates, and do clean up/touch up and we should be ready to submit.

  8. I've been working with Stephan to help get him up to speed.  We met Yesterday for progress pics and test fittings.  Here's where we are:

    w7DemeY.jpg

Clips are there to help line up the thighs and how they will attach to the belt.  They are not attached yet in this pic so the thighs are lower than they probably should be.  E6000 is drying now.  This is a change from the Anovos strapping which attached the thighs to the ab plate via snaps.

    iPFmxYZ.jpg

We switched out from the Anovos velcro to elastic and snap plates all around.

    PkAvCn3.jpg

Straps will be added this week to make sure the kidney and ab plate line up.  There should be very minimal gap (if any) when we're done.

    J4J1vzP.jpg

I goofed.  I put the lower legs on the wrong side.  That'll be hard to goof up when we reattach the sniper plate.

We've got new gloves so he's more comfortable, new cloth belt is being assembled this week.  Biceps should be done this week and we'll be adding a hook to them for the shoulder bell strap.  Otherwise, you can see where we'll be trimming the forearms and thighs to fit.  We'll address any issues with the lower legs after the thighs are done.

    Comments?  Critiques?  How we doin?

  9. Now that the build is complete, I'm looking for the "extras".   What do folks recommend for a voice amp?

I figured I'd ask here as opposed to the detachment.  My thinking is some of the vendors might focus on one detachment over another even though it could be used in different builds.
