  1. It’s been a while. Here’s some more photos.

Leslie gave me some nice fabric that matches the pattern on the leg material. Too bad I don’t have a pattern for pants and I’m really a novice at sewing. So I found a tutorial online and made a pattern.

    First test pattern.

I transferred it to some muslin and sewed it up. I’ll save you the unsightly details, but it was a pair of pants that didn’t fit quite well.

So I took what I learned and got some pattern fabric and made a second one, slightly larger.

I’ve still got more muslin. I’ll hopefully test this version out this weekend.

Aside from this I’ve already got: snaps, poly webbing, elastic, felt, and some plastic dip spray. I’ve also got Velcro and XTC3D on the way.

I think all I have left to get is skirt fabric, paints (primer, paint, clear coat), and the shirt.

    By build plan is:

    Finish prepping the inside.

Go as far as priming the outside.

    Fitting and assembly.

Fix any exposed fiberglass from fitting.

    Paint outside.

Add felt inside to protect the paint.

Hopefully that will get me there. It’s a lot of work in a little time. I was able to rough sand most of the pieces at the last AP. All that’s left is one arm and the waist section. Then fine sand and remove a few knots of resin I saw on the outside.

  2.

Let’s see if I can finally keep up with a build thread.

Starting a new build. PLENTY more photos to come!

    Samurai variant helmet

I’m still going to get the knight for options.

Mando helmet is much smaller than the samurai. Previous owner resin coated the inside of the kit to help deal with the fiberglass. I’m still getting bit but I’m not sure if that’s from the inside or out. Only major issue so far is the waistband piece is to small. So that’s going to need some creative sintra work. And that will be my first time working with it. The kit also came with boots and gloves. Boots are not accurate, but they fit and won’t be seen. Also came with a pair of gloves that should be approvable but they’re a tad small. I might be able to make them work, depending on the sleeves. If they can stay tucked under the sleeves we’ll call it good.

  3. Gaanon,
    OMG THANK YOU! Let me get as much information first before I jump in. Plus I need some time to schedule ; ;
    Couple of things:
    1. Boots?
    2. Holster?
    3. Other accessories?
    4. If I used to have access to the 501st boards can I get them again?
    5. Where are all the upcoming events?

    Thanks!

    1. Look up Imperial Boots. They offer boots in waves. I’d also say look up TK boots (Victor Matts on Facebook) but they’re not making boots anymore. But you may get lucky and they’ll have your size. Worth a shot.
    2. Anovos should have shipped with a hero holster that you can modify for stunt. If not, Trooperbay is local and has them.
    3. Other depends on what you want. Helmet fans? Voice amp? Blaster?
    4. I’ll leave that to Garrison staff but I believe you’ll get that back when your approved again.
    5. Next official meeting is April 28. Should be a few posts down or it will be posted here soon. But I’m opening my driveway to folks that want to work on TKs tomorrow. I’ll pm you the address.

  4. One option, our local vendor, Trooperbay, just posted on Facebook that he may offer classes on vacuforming.  During the class you'll "pull" your own TK armor using his molds.  For the price he's offering, it's a pretty good deal.

  5. If you're considering a Stormtrooper, also be sure to join the First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment (www.whitearmor.net).  They can help point you in the right direction with vendors that sell quality costumes and components.  If you can make it to the Armor Party on the 28th, I'll be bringing a stormtrooper kit I'm working on (ANH Stunt).

  6. I repainted the eye bases and tried to paint the threads, but didn’t have much luck there. So I painted the outside bottom of the lenses black. That should take care of the eye issue.

I also added some more weathering. Earth brown and stone paint. I added stone around the edges, elbows, knees, and the butt on down on the back. Then layered it with the earth brown and sand camouflaged paints.

Looks good @Gaanon, with two minor issues...  Your hood is a little flopped over.  Not a deal breaker, but it should be straightened up.  Second, can you take a close up of the eyes?  It looks like the white on the inside of the base is showing thru.  Either the base should be blackened, or the front should be all yellow.

It's the base of the eyes.  I'll spray them black and take new photos at the build party.  Plus I'm working on a v2 set of eyes that are USB powered.  But that's for later.

  8. Been a while. Lots of stuff in the way including the weather not cooperating. Finally got some supplies and time to work on it. I’m trying to go with less is more. On the bandolier I nearly soaked it in WD-40 to break it in (AWESOME stuff), sanded the fittings and put some shoe polish on them, used brown shoe polish on the extension which matched decently, more black and brown shoe polish all around and some sanding on the leather bits. I took about an inch off the bottom of the robes, sprayed camouflage and black spray paint all around, and added the black and brown shoe polish. Same with the boots and hood. I painted new eyes which I hope are a better color.
If it looks good, I’ll submit these. Otherwise at the Armor Party.

Ladies of the Legion shirts (for the few that ordered)

ISG Patches/Coins, Mission patch orders (IF they arrive on time -- they are supposed to on Friday).

Old merch orders that were not yet picked up.

A few extra whiskey tumblers that people have asked for...

Praetorian armor for those who want to see this crazy mess that I've gotten myself into... O_O

No promises I won't try to swipe some of that Praetorian goodness.
