OT Rebel Pilot Project

Recommended Posts

Hey all-

It was mentioned at the last joint club meeting that I was thinking of heading up a new group project for TFA Resistance Pilots.  Obviously this is more Rebel Legion than 501st, but I am checking to see who is interested so we can start sourcing parts in quantity.  Eventually, this would probably need to be transferred over to Sunrider Base's forums.

So, who's in?

UPDATED OT Pilot Info:

Okay...  So here is what I've found so far for the classic X-pilot...  Not an endorsement of any of these products, just letting you know what I'm using!  But first, here is a link to the costume requirements on the RL site:

And the pilot sub-forum:

Here is the helmet I decided on from Darth Hair:

I'm also going with his chest box (combined shipping!):

I already had a orange flight suit from Wampa Wear:

And one is made by Far Away Creations, but you will have to email for info:

info@farawaycreations.com

But if you are the sewing type and want to do your own, here is one that could be used as a base (it is the same one I used for my AT-AT driver):

For boots, I'm going with these:

Gloves:

Aluminum Greebs:

I'm planning on sewing the flak vest and strapping myself, with design help from Lesley.  Here are a couple of tutorials:

http://www.alderaanbase.com/reference/xwingcostume/

Lesley has a source for the strapping, so we can put in a group order.

Finally, if you haven't gone over to Sunrider base and signed up for an account there yet, you might want to do so:

That's all I've got for you right at the moment...  But it is quite a bit of info!  I hope that it is helpful!

I have a mold for the comm pads, so I can pour those for the group.  I just need to know how many and then get resin.

The belt buckles can be found at either Wampa Wear, or Fenix Props.  We can probably save a little by doing a group order on those.

These appear to be the correct tuck clasps for the vest:

I am interested.  Really it comes down to cost.  From what I've heard so far this is in excess of $1,000 not including the helmet, so I'll put myself as tentative depending on what it takes to throw this together!

Also, if this conversation moves over to Sunrider, we'll need to make sure it is in an area that non-members can contribute to as I am not a current Rebel Legion member.

I've gotten in touch with Max Gabriel Flores to get his input and pricing for his kit.  I will be getting in touch with Chris Hale too, who is starting to make the greebs and helmet.  I tend to agree with Scott...  If we are looking at $1000+, I'm a whole lot less interested...  I'm sure I can do a OT pilot for a whole lot less than that!

I'll help where I can with sewing and whatnot, although I won't make the outfit myself.  Orange is not flattering to a booty my size.  :P

Sides, I want to finish my mando kit, finish my new Jedi, then work on my emperor, the redo of my Jawa and Tusken, and then a second mando that's in the back of my brain...

My costume queue is fairly full.

Hey folks...

I talked to Gabe at Wondercon this weekend, and he said that it should be nowhere near $1000 to do the costume.

Here is a link to the proposed costume requirements on the RL forums:  http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=71772&start=60

Thanks Dawn!  Your suit looks awesome!  We would be highly appreciative of any help you could throw our way!

Well crud...  Just watched the Rogue One teaser.  Do we want to postpone the TFA pilot build until after doing classic pilots, which would be timely for the release in December?

I'd be down for either.  Orange is Orange :)

If we do classic, I'll try for Wedge!

Yes.  The classic has been around long enough that all of the parts are readily available.  I would say that my opinion would be to do classic first, and then the TFA pilot before Ep.8.  We don't have a lot of Rebels in San Diego, period...  So on top of the Jedi class, this would be a good bolstering of their numbers.

right on!

I'm down to classic pilot.  I can help us get the strapping we need, and we can do group orders for nearly everything!
